Aubrey Abraham Cohen (1877–1942)

The sudden death is announced of Mr. Aubrey A. Cohen, of Tamworth, on the 23rd inst. The late Mr. Cohen was the second son of the late Nathan Cohen, one of the Jewish pioneers of this important New South Wales town; Mr. A. A. Cohen was most popular and well known throughout Tamworth and district, where he carried on the profession of a dentist. He associated himself with practically every local patriotic and philanthropic organisation and at the date of his death was hon. treasurer of the Fighting Services Fathers' Association, and one of the Trustees' of the Tamworth Racing Club. He was a very keen bowler and the pall bearers in Tamworth prior to the interment in Sydney were the members of the local bowling club. He leaves a widow and two sons, Sgt. A. P. Cohen of the A.I.F. (who has just returned from abroad, and Solicitor, Newcastle), and Dr. A. L. Cohen (Flight-Lieut. R.A.A.F.) and one daughter, Mrs R. Foreman-Nathan (who has recently returned to Australia from London). At the date of his death Mr. Cohen was aged 65 years.

The funeral took place at the Jewish Cemetery, Rookwood, on the 25th inst. at which, Rabbi Dr. Porush officiated; there were present his two sons, Dr. P. Cohen and E. Cohen (brothers), Mr. R. Foreman-Nathan, Messrs B. and J. Cohen, N. Cohen, N. P. Cohen, S. D. Asher, D. L. Cohen, L. G. Cohen, R. W. Solomon, and Col. A. W. Hyman.
