Walter Neal (1876–1944)

The death occurred in the Young District Hospital on Saturday night of Mr. Walter Neal, 68, of 'Ardnai,' Greenethorpe.

Deceased was born at Grenfell, being the second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Neal, of Grenfell.

He married Kathleen Grogan, of Cowra, at Cowra, and there were three children of the union. Mrs. B. Shanahan, of Melbourne, is a daughter, and Mr. John Hector Neal of Cowra, a son.

One daughter pre-deceased him.

Surviving sisters are: Matilda (Mrs. J. Miller, Homebush), Emily (Mrs. F. Pearson, Grenfell), Florrie (Mrs. G. Rumble, Leeton), Nellie (Mrs. V. Bailey, Grenfell), Elsie (Mrs. P. Saines, Monteagle), and Ivy (Homebush).

A brother, Fred, of Greenethorpe, survives him. The late Mr. Neal was a well-known taxi driver for many years at Cowra. He retired from the business and had been residing at Greenethorpe with his brother Fred for the last three years.

The late Mr. Neal had been in indifferent health for some time and entered hospital about a week prior to his death.

The funeral took place to the Young cemetery from St. John's Church of England after a service conducted by Rev. L. Murchison who also officiated at the grave side.

The pall-bearers were Messrs. P. Saines (brother-in-law), R. Spackman, Victor Neal (nephew) and R. Flynn.
