Alfred Whalan (1840–1912)

It is with much regret I have to announce the death of Mr. Alfred Whalan, sen., of Fish River, Tarana. The sad event occurred on the 26th June, at his late residence on the Fish River. He was born near Tarana 72 years ago, and had lived all his life in the district. Deceased, who was highly respected, has left eight children to mourn their loss — six sons and two daughters. The interment took place on Friday, about 100 friends and relatives journeying to the Mount Olive cemetery to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased.
