Lily Maley (1872–1925)

By the death of Miss L. [Lily] Maley, who for many years was headmistress of the King William road School, Hyde Park, a deservedly popular woman has been lost to South Australia. In the cause of Methodism she was a consistent and earnest worker, and the Rev. G. F. Jenkin, minister of the Pirie Street Methodist Church spoke feelingly of the great loss Miss Maley's death would mean. She was a member of the choir at Pirie street for several years, and was one of the most active in connection with the mothers' meetings and the Dorcas Society. The two institutions do fine work among the poor of the district. Miss Maley never spared herself when it was a question of helping the distressed. She was a daughter of the late Mr. William Maley, of Adelaide, and a sister of Mr. Charles Maley, a State school teacher who is seriously ill.
