Ernest Terry Maley (1869–1943)

In Adelaide on Tuesday the death occurred of Mr. Ernest Terry Maley, who was well known in Broken Hill for many years until he left here about 26 years ago. He was associated with local theatrical companies in his early life. He was an accomplished pianist. He later joined the literary staff of 'Barrier Daily Truth,' was for many years sub-editor, and for a short period was the editor. Mr. Maley was a literary man and his 'Bets About Books' was a feature of the Barrier Boys' Brigade magazine which led many of its boyish readers to appreciate the best in the written word. Before leaving Broken Hill to conduct a business in a suburb of Adelaide Mr. Maley was secretary manager of the Musicians' Club. His death occurred at his residence, Railway Terrace Westbourne Park. His widow survives.

Mr. Maley was a leading figure in the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows.
