After a very lengthy period of ill-health, Miss Violet Grayland, 77 years, died at the residence of her brother, Mr. G. Grayland, Cobden, on Sunday, May 2.
Miss Grayland was born in Cobden and was the second eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Grayland, pioneers of this district. Miss Grayland, who always led a very retiring life, was a great lover of flowers. Many beautiful floral tributes were placed at the graveside.
Members of the Grayland family are Mrs. R. Gilbert (Cobden), May (deceased), Mrs. W. Gilbert (Geelong), Victor (deceased), Garnet (Cobden), Mrs. Bert Harris (Cobden), Mrs. J. McKenzie (Bostock's Creek).
The funeral, which was of a private nature, took place to the Cobden cemetery on Monday, May 3, following a service at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Cobden; the Rev. D. Drennan officiating at the service and the graveside. Mr. W. Roberts had charge of the mortuary arrangements.
