Alan Montgomerie (Monty) Severn (?–1932)

Mr. A. Montgomerie Severn son of the late Mr. Henry Augustus Severn and Lady Stansfeld died suddenly at his residence Alphington, Bellevue-road, Bellevue Hill yesterday.

Mr. Severn was born in Sydney but spent many years in Fiji and New Zealand. Returning to Sydney he married Mary the youngest daughter of Sir Alfred Stephen, Chief Justice and Lieutenant-Governor of New South Wales.

Mr. Severn was one of the last surviving links connecting the Severn family with Keats and Ruskin. He was the grandson of the distinguished artist Joseph Severn C.B., in whose arms Keats died. His uncle Arthur Severn was the devoted friend of Ruskin. Joseph Severn married the daughter of Lord Montgomerie hence Mr. A. M. Severn's name.

The funeral will take place this afternoon. There will be a service at St James' Church at 2.15 p.m. and later the remains will be cremated at Rookwood.
