Robert Sydney Parkes (1843–1880)

Early this morning, Mr. Robert S. [Sydney] Parkes, eldest son of the Hon. Sir Henry Parkes, died at his residence, Mary-street, Surry Hills, and in consequence of this bereavement the Colonial Secretary was not present at his office this forenoon. Mr Robert Parkes had been for a long time a sufferer from dropsy, resulting from that fatal organic malady Bright's disease. He had been employed in the Government Printing Office as a bookbinder, but for a considerable time past was unable to follow his occupation, through severe indisposition. He leaves a wife and two children.
