Margaret Neary (?–1926)

Mrs. Margaret Neary passed away at her residence, McLeod St., at an early hour on Monday morning. The deceased lady was a resident of Cairns for the past 30 years, for many years previous to this she resided in Port Douglas and Herberton. She arrived in Port Douglas about the year 1876, and after several years residence there, she then proceeded with her late husband (Mr. John. Neary) to Herberton, where they made their home for a number of years, finally coming to Cairns, where she had resided ever since. Her husband predeceased her 15 years ago. She has left a grown-up family to mourn their sad loss. These are: Miss Annie Neary, Mr. Jack Neary, Mr. J. P. Neary, Mr. C. Neary and Mrs. Fred Spowart, who are all well known in this town. The funeral moved from the residence on Monday afternoon and was largely attended. The Rev. Father Murray officiated at the graveside.
