The death occurred on 1st March last of Walter Herbert (Herb) Close, of William Street, Young at the age of 63 years.

The late Mr Close was born at Murringo, being the son of the late Walter Herbert Close and Mrs Sarah Jane Close, Young.

He married Alice Margaret Froggatt at Young in 1918 and she and two sons and four daughters survive him. They are: Sons, Walter (Young), Morris (Monteagle); daughters, Mrs Florence White, Mrs Doris Sheedy (Young), Iris (Young), Mrs Pearl White (Canberra) and Mrs Elaine Martin (Kingsvale).

Brothers are Les and Basil (Young), Neil (Koorawatha), Cecil and Allen (Wirrimah). Sisters are Beryl, Ivy and Irene of Young.

Deceased was Stud Master of "Milly Milly".

On March 3rd, the remains were conveyed to St John’s Church of England, where the Rev S. Holmes conducted a service prior to the cortege moving to the Young cemetery for the internment.

Pallbearers were deceased’s son Walter, sons-in-law Cliff White, Colin Sheedy and Neville Martin, Laurie Finnigan and Len Ruston.

Patterson Bros had charge of the funeral arrangements.
