Geoffrey de Talworth Backhouse (1890–1917)

Backhouse, Gunner Geoffrey de Talworth, killed in action in France on October 4. Second son of Mr Talworth and Mrs. E. A’Beckett Backhouse, of Murrumbeena, and grandson of late Mr. W. A. C. A’Beckett. Educated at Haileybury College, Brighton, and Scotch College. Before enlisting was engaged in farming pursuits at Koo-wee rup. Eldest brother, Nigel, is chaplain to 7th Light Horse, now in Palestine; and youngest brother, Herbert, recently discharged from active service.
