Henry Everard (Harry) Stanistreet (1872–1918)

The death of Mr. Henry Everard Carden Stanistreet, a former well known Bendigonian, occurred in Melbourne on Thursday last. Mr. Stanistreet, who was manager for Dr. Atkinson's Ravenswood Estate, left that position about eight years ago in order to go to Western Australia to take up farming pursuits. He was not there very long before he was associated with the Farmers and Settlers' Association of Western Australia. He was appointed secretary and organiser for that body, and won great success by his consistent hard work. In the last State elections he stood for one of the seats in Western Australia, and was defeated by a small margin. Some time ago, having broken down in health, his medical adviser ordered him to Victoria once again, and it was only a little over a week ago that Mr. Stanistreet was in Bendigo, apparently in the best of health. However, on 19th September he died at a private hospital in South Yarra. Mr. Stanistreet leaves a widow, and a family of three boys and one girl, who are at present in Melbourne. He was a son of the late Mr. John Stanistreet, of Bendigo, and his mother (Mrs. Stanistreet) is still living.
