Michael (Dard) Skeyhill (1867–1946)

THE death occurred recently of Mr. Michael Skeyhill, a well known and highly respected re sident of Weerite, at the age of 79 years. The deceased had been in poor health for a number of years.

Born at Willunga, South Australia, the late Mr. Skeyhill came to Camperdown as a lad and was employed on the Danedite and Purrumbete Estates at the age of 14 years. For 46 years he carried on dairying at Weerite. He was a popular man and highly respected by all sections of the community, and was regarded as progressive. His wife predeceased him about 13 months ago. He leaves a family of five, who are Thomas, Eileen (Mrs. Rubinach), Myrtle (Mrs. Everett), Reid and Alan.

The funeral was to the Camperdown cemetery, following Requiem Mass celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, by the Rev. Fr. Jones. The funeral was largely attended and many floral tributes were in evidence. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. Fr. Jones. Coffin-bearers were Messrs Thomas, Reid and Alan Skeyhill (sons), W. Everett (grandson), H. Matthews (nephew), and J. Hynes. The pall was supported by Messrs C. Everett, C. Lardner, E R. Lucas, P. Matthews, R. Matthews, W. Cabble, H. Sumner, and D. Clarke.

Funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs Collie and Lourey.
