The Milvale and Bland districts are mourning the passing of one of their oldest and most esteemed residents in Mrs. Margaret Scott, who died on Wednesday night, in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Young, 78, years of age. Deceased was the widow of the late Walter G. Scott, of Milroy, Temora road. She was a splendid type of pioneer and citizen, and identified herself with almost every public movement and function in the Milvale district. Born in Limerick, Ireland, deceased made the trip to Australia with her husband 50 years ago. They lived for some time at Lismore, but went to Young district about 40 years ago, the late Mr. Scott taking up the Milroy property, which has ever since been the family home. In those early days the Bland country was virgin bush, and deceased faced the vicissitudes and trials of pioneering life with that cheerfulness and industry which were typical of all the pioneers. She reared a family of ten — eight of whom survive. Her husband pre-deceased her 24 years ago. The members of the family are Mrs. J. Harris (Temora road), Albert (Boorowa), Mrs. Yerbury (Springdale), Mrs. J. S. Heffernan (Milvale), Miss Scott and Leslie Scott (Milvale), Walter (Ariah Park), and William (Wellington). There are also 21 grandchildren.
