Edward (Ted) Riley (1859–1943)

The death occurred yesterday of Mr. Edward Riley, former Labour member of the House of Representatives. He was 84, and represented South Sydney (now Watson) from 1910 to 1931 when he was defeated by Mr J. T. Jennings His son Mr E. C. Riley held the Cook seat from 1922 to 1931.

Mr Edward Riley was chairman of the standing committee on Public Works from 1914 to 1917 and in 1923 a member of the Select Committee on Effect of the Operation of the Navigation Act on Trade. During 1928 he was member of the joint Select Committee on Commonwealth Electoral Law and Procedure.

Mr Riley is survived by three sons and three daughters.
