Joseph Walter Ralston (1873–1929)

The death occurred on September 2 at his home, Telemon, near Beaudesert, of Mr. Joseph Walter Ralston, following an attack of pneumonic influenza. The late Mr. Ralston was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur R. Ralston, of Bairnsdale, Victoria, and was born at Walhalla, Gippsland, in 1873. In the early nineties he joined the staff of the Bank of Victoria, and remained a member until a few years later, when he came to Queensland and entered the service of the Queensland National Bank Ltd. later becoming manager of the Yangan branch, and afterwards of the Beaudesert branch. He retired from the latter position early in 1917, after a severe illness. In 1909 he married Miss Mabel Georgina, third daughter of the late Mr. R. M. Collins. Mr. Ralston is survived by his wife and five children. He has been laid to rest in the family burial ground of the Memorial Church at Tamrookum.
