William Kernick Phillips (1849–1933)

Membership of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners for 60 years was the record established by Mr. William K. Phillips, who died recently at the age of 85 years. He was one of the oldest members of the union having joined the Plymouth (England) branch in 1873. He came to Australia in 1880. Mr Phillips held all the minor offices in the union, was secretary of the Adelaide branch for three years and organiser for one year. He has left three children—Mr. C. F. Phillips, of FuIlarton, and Mesdames E. F. Hoover, of Tusmore, and A. E. Tideman, of Glenelg.
