The death took place on Wednesday, November 6, of Mrs. Ann Broughton McCallum, at her late residence, "Good Hope," Castle Hill, at the ripe age of 92 years.
The late Mrs. McCallum will be remembered by older residents of the Yass District, as she lived at Good Hope for many years.
She was a daughter of the late Robert Campbell, of Wingello, Marulan, and Anns Vale, Boorowa, and her mother was Ann Hassall, a sister of the Rev. Thomas Hassall of Parramatta, and a daughter of Roland Hassall, who arrived in Australia in 1796.
Deceased was born at Anns Vale, Boorowa, and on her marriage to the late Argyle McCallum came to Good Hope 70 years ago. Her nine children were born at Good Hope and seven of them survive her. She resided at Good Hope till the property was resumed in connection with the Burrinjuck irrigation scheme.
A silver medal awarded to Ann Hassall at the first Sunday School in Parramatta in 1814 is still in the poesession of the family.
