Mr. John Thackery Lipscomb, a member of a well-known Maitland family died at Parramatta on Saturday.
Mr. Lipscomb was the fourth son of the late Mr. William Lipscomb, of West Maitland. He was educated at Sauchie House, under the late Dr. J. Fraser. He entered the service of the Bank of Australasia and was manager of branches in various states.
In this State he was in the Young, Broken Hill and other branches. He was also in Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and at Napier (New Zealand). He was manager at Napier when he retired after over 40 years with the bank.
For some years he had lived at Parramatta. He had not enjoyed good health and a severe attack of influenza brought about his death. He was 60 years of age.
Mr. Lipscomb took a very keen interest in cricket. He played with the old Alblou Cricket Club before he left Maitland, and in Melbourne he was associated with the St. Kilda Club. He represented it on the Victorian Cricket Association. He also managed Victorian tours to New South Wales and South Australia.
Sailing, football and racing also claimed some of his attention. He is survived by his wife and two children—Mr. Jack Lipscomb of Julie Creek, Queensland (who some years ago played cricket in Maitland), and Mr, Don Lipscomb of Kiribilli, Moree.
He was a brother of Mr. George Lipscomb, and Misses Lipscomb, of West Maitland.
The funeral will leave St. Paul's Church, West Maitland at 10.30, on Tuesday morning, for the Campbell's Hill cemetery,
