Annie Agnes Heagney (1860–1934)

After a long illness, Mrs. Annie Agnes Heagney, who was aged 74 years, died on Thursday last at a private hospital in Malvern. She was the widow of Mr. P. Heagney, who from 1904 to 1910 was secretary of the Political Labor Council, which is now known as the Australian Labor Party, and was a member of the Richmond Council. Mrs. Heagney was an early member of the Women's Organising Committee of the A.L.P. She is survived by daughter, Miss Muriel Heagney, who is interested in political, social, and philanthropic movements, and a son, Mr. Reginald Heagney, of Mentone. Mrs. Heagney was born at Bendigo. The flag, at the Trades Hall was flown half-mast on Friday. The funeral was carried out privately, the interment being in the same grave as her late husband at the Brighton Cemetery.
