Richard Hayes (1828–1904)

The death occurred at Currency Creek on Wednesday last of Mr. Richard Hayes, who was an old and respected native of the Hawkesbury District. The late Mr. Hayes had attained the ripe age of 80 years, and until recently was quite healthy and active. He was the father of a family of twelve— five of them having pre-deceased him. Three sons and four daughters are now living. One of the sons reside at Barraba, and one of the daughters at Ashfield, and another in Sydney; whilst a third (Mrs. C. Hagger) lives in Windsor. The funeral took place on Friday last, starting from deceased's late residence at 7.30 in the morning for Ebenezer cemetery, where the interment took place. A large number of relatives and friends followed the remains to their last resting place. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. J. W. Chandler.
