Raymond Scott (Ray) Evatt (1896–1917)

Official information has been received that Lieut. Ray S. [Raymond Scott] Evatt, M.C. has been killed in action. He enlisted early in the war, and attained officer's rank in the field. He was born at East Maitland, and was 21 years of age. In February last, for gallant conduct at Warlencourt, he was awarded the Military Cross. He was a son of the late Mr. J. H . Evatt, of East Maitland, and Mrs. Evatt, of Milson's Point, and was twice wondered prior to the present Ypres battle, in which he was killed. At the time of his enlistment he was in the employ of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company.
