Frederick Augustus du Croz (1821–1897)

Mr. F. A. Du Croz, one of the original directors of Dalgety and Co. Limited, is reported by cable to have died in England on 28th May. Mr. Du Croz was a very old colonist, having arrived in Tasmania about the year 1835 at the age of sixteen years. He joined the Tasmanian firm of William Jackson and Co., which some years after became Jackson, Du Croz and Co. Further changes occurred in the personnel of this firm, which was the origin of the Tasmanian branch of Dalgety and Co. In 1853 Mr. Du Croz left for London, where he took part in the London management, becoming a director of Dalgety and Co. Limited on the flotation of the present company in 1884.
