Prosper de Mestre (1821–1863)

It is my painful duty to record the death of Prosper De Mestre, Esq., J.P., of Terara, who died yesterday morning (Friday) after a protracted illness. Men like him can be ill spared from this district. His death will be universally regretted. He was a man who had few enemies, for poor Prosper was too kind-hearted and forbearing to harbor ill-will or conceal enmity. It is to be hoped that he has gone to a brighter and better world. The prayers of his fellow beings follow his remains.
