Roy Algernon Cohen (1892–1936)

Whilst travelling from Moree to Warialda this afternoon, Mr. Roy Cohen, the well-known representative of the Distillers Co., Ltd., Sydney, met with a fatal accident. He was driving a single-seater car and was accompanied by his son, aged eleven years. When about a mile on the Moree side of Warialda, the car hit a post adjacent to a concrete crossing. After striking the post the car swerved over the embankment and turned completely over. Mr. Tim Ryan, who was cutting lucerne about 100 yards away, was an eye witness to the accident, and immediately rushed to the motorist's assistance. Both father and son were inside the vehicle, and Mr. Ryan hauled them clear. It was seen that Mr. Cohen, senior, was very badly injured, and Mr. Ryan phoned Warialda for the services of a doctor. Upon the latter's arrival, deceased was just about on his last gasp and expired almost immediately. The son was taken to the Warialda Hospital, but it is not thought that he is seriously injured.
