George Coupar Chalmers (1855–1909)

The remains of the late Mr. George Coupar Chalmers were interred in the Waverley Cemetery on Saturday. The Rev. Harry Bryant officiated at the graveside. The principal mourners were Messrs. H. Wormald (son-in-law), W. H. Goddard (brother-in-law), and C. Goddard (nephew). Mr. Chalmers came to this State from Victoria 33 years ago. For a number of years he was with Briscoe, Drysdale, and Co., and then he entered into partnership with Mr. J. A. Roberts under the style of Roberts, Chalmers, and Co. iron merchants. Subsequently he was the manager of the Colonial Finance Company, and latterly he had been in business in the city as a chartered accountant and insurance broker. He left two daughters. His wife predeceased him some years ago.
