Hugh Norman Beggs (1863–1943)

The death occurred yesterday at Hamilton of Mr Hugh Norman Beggs, 80, of Nareeb Nareeb Station, Glenthompson. Born at Eurambeen, Beaufort, Mr Beggs was educated at Wesley College. After 3 years with the Bank of Victoria, he joined 2 brothers in pastoral ventures, finally purchasing Nareeb Nareeb, where he had since lived. He was at one time a member of the Mount Rouse Shire. He had been president of the Australian Sheepbreeders' Association and Hamilton P and A Society, and was associated with many organisations in the district. As a breeder of fine wool merino sheep he was known throughout Australia, and was a winner of championships at leading shows. He is survived by his widow, one son, and one daughter.
