Thomas Treherne Willis (1871–1953)

There passed away peacefully at Rockhampton recently Mr Thomas Treherne Willis at the age of 82.

Mr Willis, who was a native of England, came to Queensland in 1887 and he followed chiefly work on the land and later joined the railway service. In 1902 he married a young widow, Elizabeth Mary Rooney, who predeceased him 18 years ago. Mr Willis suffered a stroke about 15 years ago and had since been paralysed in the right arm and leg, but his mind was active until a few days before his death. He had learned to write well left handed.

Mr Willis who had resided on his selection at Lakes Creek since about 1923, is survived by a step-son, John Alexander Rooney and six sons and three daughters.
