Archdeacon White, who a week ago, became seriously ill, died on Tuesday at his residence at Armidale. The deceased was 77 years of age, but continued to fill his clerical duties until seven years ago, when he resigned from active work. He was apparently in good health two weeks ago, and attended at Newcastle Synod. After returning home to Armidale he was seized with a paralytic stroke, from which he never rallied. The deceased took his degree at Oriel College, Oxford, and was ordained Deacon at Worcestershire (Eng). He was ordained priest at Newcastle (N.S.W.) in 1860 and from that year until 1891 was in charge of the parish of Muswellbrook. From 1892 to 1906 he was Archdeacon of the Upper Hunter district, the diocese of Newcastle, and since 1907, when he retired from active work he has held a general license for, and has done relief work in the Diocese of Grafton and Armidale. Despite nearly four score years old, the deceased was very active, and as late as twelve months ago was able to take part in and enjoy his favorite pastime, tennis.
