Norman Hansen (Norm) White (1884–1969)

Geologist, Mr Hansen White, who received the OBE in 1953 for Government land evaluation work in the New Guinea Highlands, has died in Auckland.

He was 84.

Mr White, who was born in Broken Hill, Australia, lived for 25 years in Malaya and New Guinea, but has resided in Auckland for the past 14 years.

He was known for articles he wrote for the Pacific Islands Monthly magazine.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Ella White, his son Mr N. White, who is a barrister in the Territory, and his daughter Mrs J. Hemmingsworth, of Beirut.
