Frederick Gilbert White (1864–1953)

Mr. Frederick Gilbert White, 89, a well-known Broken Hill identity for more than half a century, died at Victor Harbor on Sunday.

Born in England, he came to Adelaide as a young man, working for a short time with Elder, Smith & Co.

He went to Broken Hill in 1886. where he formed a company called White & Hosier, which was an active orebuying, sharebroking and electrical business.

Mr. White left Broken Hill about a year ago and went to live at Victor Harbor with his wife, formerly Miss Blanche Eley, whom he married in 1901.

He was a director of the Alaska Ice Cream & Produce Co. Ltd. from its establishment in 1914.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, one son and one grandchild.
