Regret was expressed during the week at the death of Mr. Henry Watson, 83, of Glenmorgan Street, East Brunswick, who was secretary of the Painters' union from 1912-1934, and Federal president from 1917 to 1934.
The late Mr Watson helped to secure the first wages board, in 1910, and was a member of the board. He was a former secretary of the Building Trades Federation and a delegate to the Trades Hall Council for many years.
Mr. Watson died on December 5 and was buried in the Melbourne General Cemetery. He is survived by two sons and a daughter, his wife pre-deceasing him. The red flag was flown half-mast at the Trades Hall.
