News has been received in Brisbane of the death of Alf [Alfred] Walker, well known in Queensland Labour circles, and one time part proprietor and business manager of the old Boomerang newspaper. The late Mr. Walker was an active member of the Queensland Typographical Association, for a time held the office of secretary to the Trades and Labour Council, and always interested himself in Labour matters generally. He was one of the initial members of the New Australia Co-operative Association, and was the first to proceed to Buenos Ayres to complete arrangements for the first batch of New Australian settlers. Some months ago Mr. Walker went to London in the interests of a Buenos Ayres newspaper, and while there died. The sad intelligence will be received by his many friends and acquaintances with feelings of deep regret. A more kindly disposed and generous-hearted person than poor Alf. Walker it would be hard to meet.
