Mr. Dave Tweedie, well known in Broken Hill and district since 1883, died at the Hospital at 10 o'clock last night after a lengthy illness. In the early days the late Mr. Tweedie assisted in the building of the Freemason's Hotel, but for the great part of his stay he worked as a miner along the line of lode. He also worked in the employ of the City Council. He closely identified himself with the industrial and political bodies of the town, and was one of those who helped to re-build the A.M.A. after the strike of 1892. The late Mr. Tweedie was a foundation member of the Democratic Club, and was a member of the first board of management of "Barrier Daily Truth" when that paper was controlled by the now defunct Barrier Labor Federation. Mr. R. Tweedie, a brother, recently died at Cobar. The funeral will take place to-morrow, and will leave his late residence, 175 Williams-lane, at 3.30 o'clock.
