George W. Thomson (1815–1897)

Mr. G. W. Thomson, of Challicum Station, in the Western Dis-trict of Victoria, one of the pioneer squatters of that portion of the colony, died on 30th March from general break-up of the system, at the age of 82 years. He took up the Challicum Station, then a portion of Mr. Colin Campbell's Buangor Station, in 1841, and resided there ever since. He was a member of the first road board, and continued a member of the shire council when the district was elected into a shire, and was on three occasions elected as its president, but for many years he lived quite apart from public matters.
