The death occurred last month of Mr. Samuel Taylor, owner of Goonoo Station, in the Wellington district of New South Wales. He was one of the old brigade, having reached the good age of 77 at the time of his death. The late Mr. Taylor was born in Glasgow, and came to Australia in 1857. He first went to Victoria, where he spent some time with his brothers, John and William, but eventually turned his attention to New South Wales, and took up Carwell Station, in the Coonamble district.
This was sold, and the late Mr. Taylor purchased Polly Brewan Station, Walgett, which he worked in conjunction with his brother, the late Mr. W. G. Taylor, of Bimble, Kialgara, and Youie Stations, Coonamble, who died only a little while ago, The property was sold in 1882, and Mr. Taylor visited Scotland. A couple of years later he purchased Goonoo, and actively managed it till nine years ago, when he handed over the management to his sons.
The late Mr. Taylor leaves a widow, two sons, and five daughters, and his death, following so closely on that of his brother, creates a big gap in the circle of friends who knew and respected them. They have gone, but have left the impress of their lives in the districts which they helped to pioneer.
