Robert Stevenson, sen., of Linden, Bombala, N.S.W., one of the pioneers of Monaro, died last month at the age of 95 years. A native of Fenwick, Scotland, he came to Australia in 1854, and for the first ten years lived in Victoria. He then acquired property in Monaro, and being accustomed to rural work in Scotland, soon adapted himself to conditions in this country, and prospered. A man of high ideals and generous disposition, he was a good citizen who did his best for the district he lived in, and gained the love and respect of all who knew him.
His widow, three sons and three daughters survive him, and still live in the Bombala district.
