Mr. Watson Augustus Steel, son of the late Captain Steel, and formerly acting Police Magistrate at Bathurst, died at Ashfield a few days age at the age of 74 years. Upon leaving Bathurst, on the appointment of the late Mr. J. B. Graham to the position of Police Magistrate, Mr. Steel was transferred to Tenterfield and remained there until he retired from the service. His administration of justice was characterised by conscientious impartiality. The deceased gentleman leaves a widow and two daughters.
