Marianne Smith (1868–1943)

Mrs Marianne Smith, widow of the late Mr Arthur Norman Smith, noted Melbourne journalist, died at her home, Elmie st. Hawthorn, yesterday, at the age of 75. For many years she was keenly interested in Hawthorn municipal affairs and charity work, and for a period was Mayoress of Hawthorn. She has left a daughter, Maj Lady Mackenzie, Deputy Assistant Director-General of Medical Services AIF, and a son, Mr. Neville Smith, Magazine Editor of The Argus and Australasian.

The funeral will leave her residence, Elmie st, Hawthorn, at 10.30am to-day, for the Springvale Crematorium. B. Matthews Pty Ltd are making the arrangements.
