The death occurred at Sydney on the 22nd ult. of Mr. George Morris Simpson, Stonehenge, New England, New South Wales. Born in Sydney, of English parents, he spent his early boyhood and young manhood with Sir John and Lady Hay, the intimate friends of his parents. He was educated at the Sydney Grammar School under Professor Stephen, and entered the school on its opening day.
In the early seventies he went to Queensland, and for many years owned Bon Accord Station, where he gained quite a reputation for the quality of his Merino wool under the brand of "The Rising Sun.'' For some years he was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly, and did excellent work for his constituency.
Returning to New South Wales, he acquired Stonehenge Station, New England. Mr. Simpson was a man of wide views and lofty ideals, and took a spirited interest in all matters that meant the advancement of his district and the welfare of Australia. A man of the highest integrity, and commanding the respect of all who came into contact with him, his loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
He married the eldest daughter of Dr. R. L. Jenkins, of Nepean Towers, who survives him, together with three sons and five daughters.
