Elizabeth Shoults (1839–1904)

Mrs. Shaults [Shoults], mother-in-law of Alderman R. Lightfoot, died about midday on Friday last, somewhat suddenly. The deceased lady had always suffered from a weak heart, but had had no real serious illness until last Thursday week, when she became very ill indeed, and was subsequently attended by Dr. Furnival. She appeared to have wonderfully recovered so much so that she thought she would be able to get up and move about. After breakfast a sudden change took place and she rapidly sank. The funeral was conducted by Mr. William Metcalfe, and the cortege was followed to the Methodist Cemetery, Rookwood, on Saturday afternoon, Rev. Chas. Stead officiating at the grave. She was the mother of Mr. F. E. McLean, ex-M.H.R. (now of Harris Park), and of Mrs. Mayne (Waterloo), and Mrs. R. Lightfoot. Messrs. E. A. Shaults, storekeeper, of Bundanoon, and F. C. Shaults, engineer on one of the Australian coasting steamers, were her sons by the second marriage. The deceased lady was 64 years of age.
