Mr. Samuel Shearer, of Station St., Mortdale, died yesterday at the St. George District Hospital, aged 64 years, being survived by his wife, five daughters, and two sons. On Tuesday Mr. Shearer was constructing a box over an electric meter for a neighbour when he fell from a ladder. He was conveyed to the hospital suffering from a fractured skull, and died the following day. The late Mr. Shearer was a well-known resident of the district. He was connected with the Australian ship-building industry for 25 years, and was secretary of the Shipwrights' Union for 16 years, until he retired four years ago. The deceased was a member of Masonic Lodge Woronora.
