Norman William Selth (1896–1916)

Mr. G. H. Selth, of Beulah road, Norwood, has received information that his son Norman was killed in action in France on August 4. The deceased soldier was only 20 years of age, and was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends. He received hie education at the Norwood State School, and was afterwards in the employ of Messrs. E. Storr & Sons. He first served with the cadets, taking his second and first lieutenancy. Having passed the necessary examination, he became a lieutenant in the Citizen Forces. He went to Duntroon for further military instruction, passed a successful examination, and then enlisted. He left the State on February 7 last as a lieutenant. Before departing from South Australia he was an active worker in the Sydenham Road Methodist Sunday School.
