Dudley Sandercock (1936–1939)

Dudley Sandercock, 3, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Sandercock, of Kandanga, near Gympie, had his right arm severed at the elbow when he was knocked down and run over by a railway truck near the station. He died in the Gympie General Hospital in the afternoon.

The child and his mother, Mrs. Myrtle Sandercock, who was carrying a baby, were returning from a swimming pool and were hurrying to avoid an approaching storm. They were crossing the railway line when the truck, set in motion by the force of the wind, struck them and knocked them over. The mother and baby escaped injury, but the boy was caught under the truck, a wheel passing over his arm.
