Ellen Ryan (1857–1922)

An old resident of Nundle, in the Fix this text person of Mrs. Ellen Ryan, wife of Mr. Tobias Ryan, died in the Tamworth District Hospital, at the age of 65 years. The deceased, who was very well known and highly respected in the Nundle district, leaves, besides her husband, a large grown- up family. The remains were removed from the hospital and conveyed to Tamworth, where a service was conducted by the Rev. Father Walsh. The remains were then taken to Nundle, where the funeral took place, the cortege moving from the residence of Mr. T. Ryan, for the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Nundle. The Rev. Father Walsh officiated at the graveside.

The late Mrs. Ryan had resided at Nundle since the age of seven. She was born in India, where her father saw service in the Indian Mutiny. She was married to Mr. T. Ryan in Tamworth about 40 years ago. Deceased is survived by seven daughters and four sons. The sons are (John (Tingha), William T. (Public School. Muswellbrook), James (North Sydney), and Arthur (West Maitland). The daughters are Misses Mary, Alice, Sarah, Margaret and Lily (all of Sydney), Nellie (Nundle), and Mrs. A. J. Roser (Sydney).
