Campbell Ernest Roy (1888–1949)

Campbell Roy, n.d.

Campbell Roy, n.d.

The unexpected death of Mr. Campbell Roy came as a shock to the residents of Oakey Park and also to Lithgow. By his passing we have lost one of our most esteemed citizens, whose honesty and integrity was a household word.

Throughout his long and honorable career, both politically and industrially, he had worked unselfishly for the welfare of the working class and, for Lithgow generally.

He had endeared himself to the residents of Oakey Park, where for the last 30 years he had rendered every assistance to the local organisation and for the betterment of the locality.

Many a good deed was done without the fanfare of trumpets, and the greatest tribute which could be paid was evidenced by the large number of residents who paid their last tributes to a good and faithful friend.

The sympathy of every resident goes out to the relatives. Like them we mourn the loss of a comrade whose life was not lived in vain.
