Enid P. Rouse (1880–1907)

Our telegrams to-day convey the sad intelligence of the death of Miss Enid Rouse, aged 27, who succumbed to plague, at the Coast Hospital, on Saturday afternoon. Miss Rouse was the only daughter of Mr. Charles Rouse, and has been residing with her parents at Lavender Bay. She returned from the City, on Thursday evening last, and complained of feeling unwell. Medical assistance was sought, and it was found she was suffering from plague, and on Saturday morning she was removed to the Coast Hospital, where, according to a private letter received by her sister-in- law, Mrs. Maurice Rouse, who is now residing in Mudgee, she passed peacefully away. Miss Rouse was a sister of Mr. Cecil Rouse, late of Mudgee, and Mr. Maurice Rouse. Accompanied by her mother, she intended sailing for England, by the Moldavia, on Wednesday. Instead, she has taken that longer journey from whence there is no return. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved ones, all of whom are well known in Mudgee.
