Mr. Arthur George Roth, who died at his home, The Crescent, Sandringham, on Friday, was a member of the Victorian Socialist Party for a long time. He frequently lectured on Socialism and took part in the executive work of the party. Mr. Roth originally was educated for the Baptist ministry, and travelled to England for the purpose. On returning to Australia he identified himself closely with the Labor and Socialist movements. On Saturday the funeral was held, the cortege proceeding to the Footscray Cemetery. A large number of Labor and Socialist representatives were present, and the coffin was draped in the red flag. At the graveside short speeches were delivered by Mr. E. Holloway, on behalf of the Australian Labor Party; and Mr. Scott-Bennett, in the name of the Socialist Party.
