Mr. Thomas Robertson, of Mt. Mitchell, Lexton, Vic., died after a short illness last month. Sixty-nine years of age, he was born at Mt. Mitchell, and was the eldest son of James and Margaret Robertson, his father having purchased the property in the forties. With his brothers, the late Thomas Robertson was for many years also interested in Kongbool and Mortat Stations, Victoria, and Tooma and Gundabooka, in New South Wales, but eventually settled at Mount Mitchell, where he resided until his death.
Mr. Robertson was for a long period shire president, and he was ever willing and ready to give his help and guidance in the conduct of pastoral affairs. He took a particularly keen interest in the scientific as well as the practical side of water finding, and many men have reason to thank him for locating water on their properties—in Victoria, New South Wales, and Western Australia. He some years ago instigated and financed investigations by a leading London scientist, and these investigations led to the discovery of the actual principles governing "divining.''
Mr. Robertson married the eldest daughter of the late Hon. Robert Burrowes, of Bendigo, Vic., who survives him.
