The death occurred yesterday at the age of 93 years of Mrs. Robert Power, at her home, Myrnong, at the corner of Orrong road and Toorak road, Toorak.
Mrs. Power, who was the widow of Mr. Robert Power, brother of the late Mr. Herbert Power, was one of the leaders of Melbourne society for many years. A daughter of Mr. Acheson Ffrench, a station owner in the Western district, Mrs. Power was in her younger days a noted horsewoman, and, with her sister, Mrs. J. W. Conolly, mother of Mr. Lucius Conolly, was a great rider to hounds. Although for many years Mrs. Power had taken no active part in social life, she maintained her sympathy with philanthropic movements, and performed many charitable deeds privately. Despite her great age she retained all her faculties to a remarkable degree, and the memory of her long life remained exceptionally. A lifelong friend was the late Dame Nellie Melba.
Three sisters and one brother are still living - Mrs. J. W. Conolly, Mrs. Fred Moore, Miss Ffrench, and Mr. Robert Ffrench. The funeral will leave Myrnong at 2.30 p.m. to-day for the Springvale Crematorium.
